Technology Access and Students with Disabilities

May 19, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Technology Access and Students with Disabilities
A New TMI Education/LEGAL ONE Program!

Technology is a part of everything we do today. This is especially true with respect to education, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic when schools have been operated virtually and utilizing hybrid delivery modalities. Issues with respect to accessing and utilizing technology are especially complex when working with students with disabilities. In addition to acquiring an understanding of laws governing use of, and access to, technology, this course will also address issues specific to students with disabilities use of technology. Topics will include laws addressing non-discrimination and education of students with disabilities, online privacy and internet protection laws, laws and executive orders addressing access to technology and education during the pandemic, and an overview of the use and benefits of technology in educating students with disabilities, whether in-person or virtually.

 All PK-12 Administrators and Teachers;
Instructor: John K. Worthington, Esq., LEGAL ONE Consultant; and Teresa Herrero Taylor, PhD BCBA-D; Director of Special Services, Jackson School District and NJPSA Special Education Committee Chair
