SEL for Self-Regulation – Considering All the Competencies
DescriptionCurrently, Mindful Practices are ubiquitous in the schoolhouse – and with good reason. Although more research needs to be completed, the early data points to positive impacts on students? well-being as well as academic achievement. That?s the good news. The bad news is that oft times, Mindfulness is a collection of activities in which classrooms engage, without a grounding structure. Move one or two of the people in the schoolhouse and the ?program? begins to unravel. Join us and align SEL and Mindful practices into your content. Participants will leave with Solution-Based tools, strategies and back-up plans which focus on Self-Regulation, specifically:
- use the NJDOE SEL competencies and sub-competencies to guide and instill Mindful practices;
- elicit appropriate neurotransmitters for happy, productive student engagement;
- get students to evaluate their own social and self awareness with theCPR chart Stop, Drop and Breathe; and
- incorporate movement into content.
